For over eight months Nigerian students in Federal universities have been home due to the ASUU strike. The ASUU strike 2022 which started on February 2022 is deemed to be one of the longest gone strikes ever in the history of Nigerian Higher Institutions.

State Universities that did not Join ASUU Strike

While the ensuing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) lasted, there are some state universities which did not join the embattled ASUU on the strike. Some of such universities have been listed below.

  • Port Harcourt Delta State University, Abraka
  • Osun State University Technical University, Ibadan, Oyo state
  • Chukwuemeka Odumekwu Ojukwu University,

  • Malete Lagos State University, Ojo
  • Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU)

When will ASUU Call off the Strike?

As of Today, October 2022 ASUU has called off the eight-month-old strike, but lectures are yet to begin and the students aren’t back yet.

The Strike was called off after meeting the Federal Government and the ministry of labour headed by the present minister of labour Dr. Chris Ngige.

The agreement to call off the strike was reached after the government accepted the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to pay all outstanding dues and to also pay the salaries of lecturers for the eight months for which the strike lasted.

In conclusion, ASUU has finally called of the eight-month-old strike as schools are about to resume. Embattled lecturers who turned to entrepreneurs during the ASUU strike are hereby advised to return to the classroom and help these students to graduate.
