A day came when Samuel approached Saul and told him that told him to choose him to be king of Israel. He told him that God says thus, “When the Israelites were on their way out of Egypt, the nation of Amalek attacked them. I am the Lord All-Powerful, and now I am going to make Amalek pay! “Go and attack the Amalekites! Destroy them and all their possessions. Don’t have any pity. Kill their men, women, children, and even their babies. Slaughter their cattle, sheep, camels, and donkeys.” After receiving this message, Saul sent messengers who told every town and village to send men to join the army at Telaim. There were two hundred ten thousand troops in all, and ten thousand of these were from Judah. Saul organized them, then led them to a valley near one of the towns in Amalek, where they got ready to make a surprise attack. Some Kenites lived nearby, and Saul told them that their people were kind to Israel when we left Egypt, and he does not want them to get killed when he wipes out the Amalekites. He told them to leave there and stay away from them. The Kenites left, and Saul attacked the Amalekites from Havilah to Shur, which is just east of Egypt. Every Amalekite was killed except King Agag. Saul and his army let Agag live, and they also spared the best sheep and cattle. They didn’t want to destroy anything of value, so they only killed the animals that were worthless or weak. Looking at the message Saul received from God he was asked to destroy everything but he disobeyed God.

It was in the early hours, on the first day of the week, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; He has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee. ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” Then they remembered his words. When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles. But they did not believe the women, because their words did not make sense to them. Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.

Teaching About Almsgiving: Jesus asked the Christians not to perform righteous deeds in order that people may see them; otherwise, they will have no recompense from the heavenly Father. When we give alms, we should not blow a make it known to all, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets to win the praise of others. That they shall receive their reward. But when we give alms, we should not let our left hand know what our right is doing, so that our almsgiving may be secret. And our Father who sees in secret will repay us.

Teaching About Prayer: Christ said that converted Christians are not to “be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men”. Rather, He told us to “go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place”. Also, when we pray, we are not to use “vain repetitions”. We are not to just repeat the same words over and over.
Christ then gave an outline of how we should pray, praising God in heaven and asking that His Kingdom would come to this earth. We need to ask God for our daily needs, and especially ask Him for forgiveness. After this, Christ admonished everyone to forgive others their sins and offenses, so our Heavenly Father will forgive us

(6aiii)
Teaching About Fasting: Charis taught that when w fast, we should not look gloomy like the hypocrites. That hypocrites, neglect their appearance, so that they may appear to others to be fasting. That they shall received their reward. But when we fast, anoint our head and wash our face, so that we may not appear to others to be fasting, except to our Father who is hidden. And our Father who sees what is hidden will repay us.

Paul dealt with the issue of resurrection by teaching that Christ has been raised from the dead. He wondered why some people say that there is no resurrection of the dead.He added that if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in turn: Christ, the first fruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. For he “has put everything under his feet.” Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all. Paul went on to ask that if there is no resurrection, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized for them? And as for us, why do we endanger ourselves every hour? I face death every day yes, just as surely as I boast about you in Christ Jesus our Lord. If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus with no more than human hopes, what have I gained? If the dead are not raised, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.

(ii) It shows God’s gift of eternal life
(iii) It affirms the omnipotence of God
